This site is about fly fishing and celebrating the good life. I get distracted easily so you will also find some random stuff here. If this is your first time visiting, check out the fly fishing gear and beer reviews. I am still trying to get my damn brother in law to move out.
You will get better performance and considerably longer life from your fly line if it is properly taken care of. Fly lines are not indestructible. This article covers the precautions and maintenance that will help your fly line last longer.
At Andros South it's all about the fishing. Do you want to fish to giant schools of hungry bonefish? No problem. Have your sights set on casting to large tailing bones? They can make it happen. Wade sparkling white sand flats, pole remote mangrove creeks, hike to hidden inland lakes, discover remote cays, explore expansive ocean flats? They have it all.

Winter is a sad time for the angler in me. A time for hibernating from fly fishing. As such I am still on hiatus from updating flyfishingtimes.com with articles, reviews, etc. pending things thawing out a bit around Bozeman, Montana.
Today I reluctantly got out of bed and poked my head out the front door of my house.
I saw my shadow.
Honestly, my shadow doesn't scare me.
Snow on the ground and ice on the rivers does scare me. Or at least bring out the inner wimp in me.
I quickly retreated back into my house. Unfortunately this means at least 6 more weeks of cheep beer and cheese fondue while I ponder what I am going to write about on this site for 2009. Stay tuned - I am sure it will be fascinating.
Wait - I have more to say - please read the rest of this post!
I pulled into Simms today and saw this beauty sitting out front. The truck belongs to Masa Katsumata, Simms' Asian Distributor.
Another horrible week for the economy. It got me thinking - I need to stretch my dollars as far as I can. Here are two websites to help you do that. GearBuyer.com and FootwearBuyer.com. These 2 websites are like shopping search engines. They allow you to find what stores have the product you want, and which store has it at the lowest price. You can also sign up for price alerts, so that if a product goes on sale the site will notify you via email. In tough economic times, this is the smartest way to shop.
Found this wonderful photograph from Ansel Adams in the National Archives
It is Friday and I am throwing down another old school fantastic fishing beer - Rainier in a can. I am also watching CNBC and getting seriously depressed by the stock market implosion that has occurred over the last week.
Seriously - WTF is going on with Wall Street? I want to go over there and kick a few of these bankers and traders in the ass.
Okay - back to lovely can of Rainier in my hand and happier thoughts.
I just returned from a viewing the film "Raising The Ghost" which was Directed & Produced by Josh Brandner & Paul Tarantino.

Simms, Patagonia, Cloudveil and others have announced that non-felt soles are either ready or in the works for their wading boots. Simms announced that as of 2010 they will no longer be producing boots with any felt on them. In place of felt, they will be using Vibram soles.
At its annual meeting today, Trout Unlimited (TU) asked fishing equipment manufacturers to stop producing felt-soled waders and wading shoes by 2011 to help stop the spread of aquatic nuisance species (ANS) by anglers in America’s rivers and streams.
A good friend turned me onto FISHING MUSIC by Ben Winship and David Thompson.

Simms Films has a new video on their website. Andros South, run by Deneki Outdoors, is a bonefishing lodge on South Andros Island – otherwise known as the “bonefish capital of the world”. This film features two fantastic anglers both of which love saltwater fishing, Diana Rudolph and Natih Sherman.
Check these videos out - they are very well done.
Schmidt beer kicked ass. It was cheap, and had ducks, fish, elk, other wildlife printed on the can. It didn't matter what this beer tasted like.... the packaging was pure perfection. We used to call it "Animal Beer."
ELKIN, N.C. - David Hayes' granddaughter just ask him to hold her Barbie rod and reel while she went to the bathroom. He did. And seconds later he landed the state record channel catfish at 21 pounds, 1 ounce.
I found these fly tying tutorials on YouTube.
